Quick Hits Boston: High-Tech YOTEL Opens in the Seaport District

If you ever wondered what a hotel and airplane might look like when they come together, consider this your formal introduction to YOTEL Boston. The idea for this unique model came about when YO! founder Simon Woodroffe OBE, who inspired by first class travel, decided to combine the concept of luxury airline travel with a boutique hotel.

Boston’s haute Seaport District welcomed the London-based brand with YOTEL’s second U.S. location (the first is in New York with a third opening soon in San Francisco) opening here yesterday. As for the hotel, think 326 smartly designed cabins, a technology-driven guest experience and Sky Lounge, an indoor/outdoor rooftop and terrace.

It’s all about technology here from an airline-style self-service kiosk available for check-in in less than a minute and lightning fast complimentary wifi to ATOM, an 84-inch digital ‘Social Galaxy’ displayed on a screen in Mission Control where guests can interact via their social media channels. When it comes to rooms, YOTEL’s ‘cabins’ feature their signature adjustable SmartBed with bespoke Serta gel mattresses, monsoon rain showers, adjustable mood lighting and Technowall with smart TVs, multi power points and easy connectivity to own devices.

Be sure to check out the Club Lounge on the ground level where you can enjoy all-day casual dining or take something back to your room from the Food-to-Go menu. When the sun goes down, the scene here heats up at the 12th floor Sky Lounge, the indoor and outdoor rooftop haute spot for cocktails and light snacks that you can enjoy with a side of a 360-degree view of Boston.
