See Princess Beatrice and Nicky Hilton at the Frick Young Fellows Ball
Last week on Thursday, March 16, the Frick held its annual Young Fellows Ball, now in its eighteenth year and one of the most widely covered events of the New York social season. This year’s posh fete, in partnership with Carolina Herrera, was called Turner by Moonlight. The theme was drawn from the special exhibition Turner’s Modern and Ancient Ports: Passages through Time, on view through May 14, 2017. The dress code: luminescent black tie.
Over 600 guests, including Princess Beatrice of York and Nicky Hilton, many taking their cue from the evening’s theme, wore shades of blues and white. They filled the Garden Court for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and dancing in the Music Room to tracks spun by DJ Allison Kinney. Proceeds from the event provide support museum education programs, which serve New York City public schools in all five boroughs, and the Frick Art Reference Library.
The chairs for the event were Rickie De Sole, Micaela Erlanger, Amory McAndrew, Joann Pailey, Emmy Rossum, and Nicky and James Rothschild. Honorary chairs included Fernanda Abdalla, Nasiba Adilova, Alessandra Balazs, Patricia Lansing, Alexi Ashe Meyers and Seth Meyers, Olivia Palermo, Bettina Prentice, Lauren Santo Domingo, and Ana Villafañe.

Inspired by Turner’s moonlit port scene in the Frick’s current exhibition, L&M Light and Sound created
a dramatic lighting design evoking the night sky for the museum’s Garden Court and Music Room. These gorgeous spaces were bathed in midnight blue and silver, with ethereal clouds projected across the expanse of the ceilings. Hessney & Co. complemented the evening’s mood with seasonal floral arrangement in shades of white and blue, featuring delphiniums, tweedia, and sweet peas inside clear bars and tables that were placed throughout the event. A bounty of white tulips, helleborus, and yellow begonias planted in the garden beds surrounded guests mingling in the Garden Court.
