1 Hotel & Homes has one of the most beautiful rooftop spaces in Miami Beach. Replete with pools, teak, greenery and views of the Atlantic from 18 stories high, it’s a precious space both day and night. Fortunately, they have an amazing new restaurant up there that stands to stick around and draw locals and visitors alike that goes by the name of Watr.
It’s a Japanese-Hawaiian concept for the adult set, serving as both an open-air craft cocktail bar and incredibly romantic spot to have a bite. The theme was punctuated at the opening fête with girls in grass skirts and fire dancers as well as by the menu, which gets in on the poke trend. In case you’re not quite up to speed on what that is, it’s a raw fish salad served up in Hawaii, usually from yellowfin tuna. It derives it’s name form the Hawaiian very for “cut” or “slice,” but we think that everyone just likes saying it out loud as it’s pronounced “pokey.” Watr boasts different versions of the dish with sockeye salmon and cucumber, kimchi tuna and avocado as well as crab and shrimp with charred corn and the “Tako” that has octopus, endgame and smoked chili vinaigrette.
Other stars of the menu include a Seaweed Salad Trio with sesame ginger and lime, Beef Bulgogi Lettue Wraps, Pork Belly Banh Mi Buns, Bento Boxes and a list of sushi favorites. This means California Rolls with snow crab and Japanese cucumbers, Spicy Tuna Rools and Salmon Rolls. They even have a Happy Veg Roll made with cashew cream cheese to make sure everyone does indeed stay happy. Mains include a Jackman Ranch Wagyu Skirt Steak, Glass Noodle Stir Fry and an Omakase 10-course chef tasting for $95.
Overall, the food is delicious and the ambiance, which includes plentiful ocean breezes and views galore, is hard to top. Come during the day for the promised “Watr” views, or in the evening to enjoy the lights of city, and laid-back sexy atmosphere they’ve carefully created. Make reservations here.
Watr is located at 1 Hotel & Home’s rooftop at 2341 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139
