The 8th Annual Preservation Luncheon at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens will take place this year on March 1, welcoming more than 300 stylish guests, who are for the most part, of the female persuasion. This year’s luncheon was kicked off at artefacto in Coral Gables with an elegant reception hosted by Christy and David Martin and Lais Bacchi.Â
Here, guests had the chance to reserve their tickets and/or tables for the luncheon (informally known as “The Vizcaya Hat Lunch”), buy hats, and preview the Azamara Club Cruise for two, which will be on auction at the main event.
Everyone wears their best hats to the lunch. “Each year, the ante is upped to the point where the lunch-goers know they must debut a truly stunning hat-and-outfit combo to make a splash,” says event committee member and SHAPOH.com owner Suzy Buckley Woodward. Miami Beach-based SHAPOH has become the go-to online retailer for the finest hats, fascinators, headbands and ‘hatinators,’ and hosted a pop-up sale at the event’s kick off party on February 9th.
What kind of hats does SHAPOH.com carry? “Classic hats, headbands, fascinators, and ‘hatinators,’ which is the style Kate Middleton usually wears. It’s a hybrid between a hat and a fascinator with a bit of a brim, usually set on an angle. It’s very chic and modern,” explains Buckley.
Swanee DiMare is this year’s Honorary Chair supported by Co-Chairs Eilah Campbell-Beavers, Sonia Gibson, Linda Levy Goldberg, Barbara Hevia, Daysi Johansson, Nicole Lozano, Christy Martin and Laura C. Munilla.

The Preservation Luncheon raises funds to preserve and protect Vizcaya Museum and Gardens for the community and future generations to come. Founded in 2009, the luncheon is a friend-raiser and fund-raiser to support the preservation of Vizcaya.
