GLOBAL GREEN

Global Green kicked off Oscar week once again this year with the green event of the week on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at the Mr. C Beverly Hills Hotel. Global Green rolled out the green carpet that welcomed Hollywood’s eco-conscious celebrities and allies as they arrived in eco-friendly cars to raise funds and awareness for the organization. Guests enjoyed appetizers and meals from an organic menu featuring Mr. C’s Cipriani cuisine, including a baked tagliolini with mushroom vegetarian option and a risotto alla Cipriani vegan option. Charlie Puth opened the show before headliner Stevie Wonder came on stage, where he was joined by his children who surprised Wonder with the Global Green Hero Award for being an environmental leader. After a brief speechless moment Wonder gathered his thoughts and urged his children to “encourage the young people of your generation to value the planet everywhere they go.”Closing out the evening, guests made their way to the hotel’s top-floor ballroom for the after party and enjoyed dancing, mingling and a view that spanned from the Pacific Ocean to the iconic Hollywood sign.

Cadillac celebrated the start of Hollywood’s biggest weekend with its first-ever cocktail party to fete the 88th Academy Awards. Held at Chateau Marmont, the exclusive event brought together some of the industry’s top insiders in addition to Oscar nominee Arthur Max (Production Design, The Martian) along with Christoph Waltz, Joanne Froggatt, Allison Janney, Kate Walsh, Andrew Rannells, Kelly Rowland, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ty Burrell, Abigail Spencer, Samantha Barks, Jack Fox, Kim Raver, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Paul Wesley and more. Cadillac is the official vehicle sponsor of the Academy Awards and in addition to the party, the brand also debuted an all-new series of its “Dare Greatly” ads during Sunday’s telecast. Celebrities and VIPs were also chauffeured to the event in the all-new 2016 Cadillac CT6, the brand’s full-size luxury sedan.

UNITE4:HUMANITY presented by Karma 2016 honored Morgan Freeman, Liz Hausle, Matthew McConaughey, David Meltzer, Seth Rogen & Lauren Miller, Gina Rodriguez and Olivia Wilde and its third annual event. The fete was hosted by Adam Pally with presenters including Blaine Lourd, Andre Reed, James Taylor and Wilmer Valderrama. Guests including Camilla Belle, Lacey Chabert, Bethanny Mota and Giuliana Rancic enjoyed performances by DNCE and Mali Music. At the event, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman will receive the Karma Award for his work with the Tallahatchie River Foundation. Liz Hausle received the Women Empowerment Award. Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey received the Creative Conscience Award for his work with his foundation just keep livin. David Metzler received the Sports Humanitarian Award, while Dorian Murray received the Saint Vintage Love Cures Award (via Skype). Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller received the unite2gether Award for their work with Hilarity for Charity. Gina Rodriguez was the recipient of the Young Humanitarian Award for her work in creating her We Will Foundation, while Olivia Wilde received the unite4children award for her work with Save the Children.

The Brits took over Fig & Olive on Friday night for the Film Is Great reception, presented by the British Consulate to celebrate Oscar nominees from Britain. Among those gathered included nominee Eddie Redmayne, Gordon Ramsay, the man behind the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party’s menu, TV host James Corden, Patrick Stewart, nominee Alicia Vikander, Naomi Campbell, Minnie Driver, Cat Deeley, Noah Huntley, Nigel Lythgoe, David Harewood, Lesley Nichol and more. Guests dined on quintessentially British items before enjoying a performance from jazz musician Jamie Cullum.

CHANEL and Ellie Bamber, Haya Khadra, Sama Khadra, Carson Meyer, Phoebe Tonkin hosted a cocktail party to celebrate the “I Love Coco Backstage Beauty Lounge.” Young Hollywood influencers mingled through the Backstage Beauty Lounge, inspired by a rock ‘n’ roll music set. The Beauty Lounge offered a sensory experience for guests to interact with the new range of Le Vernis Long Longwear Nail Colour and Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lipshine. Guests also enjoyed a mini manicure, photobooth, and a music stage complete with custom made CHANEL instruments to create the perfect selfie. DJ Soo Joo spun in the “Music Bar” and the night ended with a surprise performance by First Aid Kit. All guests left with CHANEL concert posters, pins, and temporary tattoos. PIAGET PRESENTS THE 31ST ANNUAL INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS

For the ninth consecutive year, Piaget co-hosted the Film Independent Spirit Awards, a star-studded affair paying tribute to the top performers, writers, directors and producers in independent film. Some of the biggest names in Hollywood came out the day before the Oscars, including honorary chair and Piaget international brand ambassador, Jessica Chastain, as well as stars of the most notable independent films such as Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Rooney Mara, Idris Elba, Jason Segel and Paul Dano among others. Chastain presented Mel Eslyn with the Piaget Producer’s Award, which features a $25,000 grant. Following the awards ceremony, Piaget joined Film Independent in hosting the first ever official after party, toasting the achievements of the day. Winners, nominees and friends of the Maison, joined Philippe Leopold-Metzger in Piaget’s exclusive backstage VIP lounge to celebrate the house’s support of independent film and emerging talent, while taking a peak at the latest Piaget creations. Winners included Spotlight, which, with five wins, swept the Spirit Awards. Tom McCarthy won best director for Spotlight, Brie Larson won best female lead for Room, and young Ghanaian actor Abraham Attah won best male lead for Beasts of No Nation. Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani hosted this year’s show, which was held beachside in Santa Monica the day before the Oscars.

THE ELTON JOHN AIDS FOUNDATION OSCAR VIEWING PARTY
A record-making amount—$6.2 million—was raised at the Audi-presented 24th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party on Oscar Sunday at West Hollywood Park. For a fourth consecutive year, award-winning Chef Gordon Ramsay prepared a sumptuous dinner at the event, which was hosted by Sir Elton John and his partner, David Furnish, while party guests enjoyed watching a live telecast of the 88th Academy Awards. Dinner was followed by an exciting live auction, which included a big surprise when guest Hilary Swank took off her ring and offered it up on the auction block; it fetched $40,000. Elton and his band performed various selections of classics, as well as songs from his new album, Wonderful Crazy Night, co-produced by Elton and T-Bone Burnett with lyrics by Bernie Taupin. The night wrapped with guests moving in to a disco area where DJ Johnny Dynell kept guests dancing until the wee hours. Amongst the guests and supporters were an array of celebrities, including Andie McDowell, Lana Del Rey, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Jon Kortajarena, Mariah Carey, Beck, Dave Grohl, Ian Somerhalder, Caitlyn Jenner, Charlie Sheen, HSH Princess Lilly zu Sayn Wittgenstein Berleburg, and more. Select attendees such as Jeffrey Tambor, Sheryl Crow and Lea Michele arrived to the event in the all-new 2017 Audi Q7.
