Lulu Kennedy Collaborates With Marks and Spencer

Fashion East founder Lulu Kennedy, known in London for championing and nurturing emerging design talent, has been snapped up by decadent department store Marks & Spencer in order to design a capsule collection for their Indigo denim range.

“My love affair with denim began at an early age—so it was second nature for me to develop a casual range as my first high-street venture,” said Kennedy to Vogue. “Working on the Indigo Collection for Marks & Spencer has been very natural and fun,” she added. The collection of 19 pieces, which will go on sale in May, is inspired by the Kennedy’s own trips to Tulum in Mexico, where she has been going on holiday for the past 15 years. “There is a laid-back, beach-babe feeling [with] bright Caribbean colors and soft, washed-out fabrics,” she said, explaining her references. And as co-founder of her own successful label Lulu & Co, there is no-one better suited to the job of bringing an edgier and more vibrant flavour to the British high street. “Collaborating with Lulu on this capsule range has been an exciting process,” commented Karen Peacock, head of design for Indigo Collection. “Her love of travel and holidaying in Mexico has inspired this summer collection and brings a fresh look to the Indigo range and her wealth of experience in the industry has been invaluable. We are eagerly anticipating the reaction.”

Expect a very boho vibe from the collection just in time for Summer 2015, with maxi-dresses and peasant shirts, silky fabrics and distressed denim perfect for a stylish, carefree wardrobe. And with a second collection with the British retailer already in the pipeline, Lulu Kennedy is ready to bring her unique aesthetic to a wider audience.
