It’s tea time! Here are the top spots to enjoy Earl Grey, champagne clotted Devonshire cream and scones galore during a haute afternoon tea in Los Angeles.

1 Montage Beverly Hills

Afternoon tea doesn't get much better than the quietly opulent affair at the Montage Beverly Hills' Parq Bar. Linger over artisanal teas served in delicate, hand-painted china by porcelain artist Lissi Kaplan and delight in a delightful array of savory and sweet creations by executive pastry chef Julie Jangali. You'll enjoy carefully prepared sandwiches, scones and pastries like spiced apple profiterole and raspberry-yuzu Napoleons, and tea, of course! The Montage also offers an option for men called the Gentleman's Tea, which includes Scotch, house sliders, pie and cake. Pretty perfect, we think.

2 Langham Huntington Hotel

You can't hope for a more traditional tea experience than the one you'll find at the Langham, a pedigreed hotel in Pasadena that recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. The hotel serves savory tea sandwiches, scones with Devonshire cream, fruit tarts, mousse torts and crème brûlées. If you'd like something a little more sparkling alongside your English Breakfast, you'll have your choice of sparkling champagne confections like a Kir Royale.

3 Peninsula Beverly Hills

Afternoon tea at The Peninsula is a supremely elegant event. As soon as you take a seat in the hotel's posh Living Room, you're offered freshly sliced strawberries, whipped cream and a savory caviar cake. You'll then have your choice of 18-loose-leaf teas and a glass of Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rosé champagne and a choice of sweets including Cassis Macaroon Disaronno Opera Cake, Rum Raisin Madeleine Brown Butter Apple Tarts and Thyme Shortbread Scones; you'll also receive a traditional Peninsula Page “Cap Cake” to take home. As if the experience wasn't elegant enough, you'll also be serenaded by a classic harpist while enjoying your afternoon tea. Haute!

4 Tres by Jose Andres

Like everything that Jose Andres does, his afternoon tea at the SLS is whimsical. This playful twist on a traditional tea includes a variety of savory items such as cucumber, goat cheese and "tomato caviar," steamed buns, creme fraiche peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and beet macaroons with goat cheese. Unconventional sweets include mint chocolate "After Eight" pink lemonade pate de fruit, rice crispy bon bon chocolate tablets and chocolate pop rocks. Yes, you heard that right.

5 Rose Garden Tea Room at the Huntington Library

The Rose Garden Tea Room and Café is a gorgeous setting for your afternoon tea, as it is surrounded by the beautiful botanical gardens of the historic Huntington Library. After you have toured the library, taken in the breathtaking art collections, photographs, sculptures and literary works of art, tea and crumpets will definitely hit your sweet spot. Pick a traditional English teas before being escorted to a central buffet, where you may devour as many sandwiches, cheeses, fruits and petite pastries as your heart (and stomach) desires.
