Mathias Gervais’ New Menu at The Restaurant at The Setai is Continental Bliss

Sometimes it’s just easier to show food than describe it. That’s certainly the case with this beautiful Lobster Salad on Chef Mathias Gervais’ new menu for The Restaurant at The Setai. With fresh poached Maine Lobster, grapefruit and citrus dressing, and little tiny caviar of olive oil that burst in your mouth it has to be eaten — or at least seen — to be believed.

The Setai has always been a bastion of luxury in Miami (we’ve heard the properties in NY might not be quite as posh) and their restaurant concepts, numerous as they have been, always reflect that. Since brining on Chef Mathias Gervais last year, their American steakhouse concept at the Grill and the Mediterranean-slash-continental concept at The Restaurant solidly look like they are here to stay.

The Zucchini Blossoms might have been fried but they taste light as a feather— an amazing take on an summer staple that is hard to find outside of Italy.

At The Restaurant at The Setai, the kitchen is not only wide open, it’s also the centerpiece of the restaurant. They know its a treat to watch chefs of Gervais’ caliber cook and gracefully prepare meals. The new menu is also a visual feast with beautiful dishes like Strawberry Soup, a gazpacho made with berries, basil black pepper and guanciale Ibericos, and Atlantic Striped Bass with roasted eggplant and fava beans.

Colorado Lamb Chops were excellent and highly recommended as is the Foie Gras, which comes seared and served atop mango and ginger.
