Pulling up to Haute Living magazine’s annual Haute 100 event at the Pérez Art Museum Miami is quite the experience. You are greeted by two shiny new Lamborghinis, a black Aventador coupe and a green Aventador roadster from Brett David’s Prestige Imports. Once you ascend the museum’s steps and enter, a flock of waiters are eager to hand you an effervescing glass of Dom Pérignon and offer a glimpse into the rarified world of the Haute 100, Haute Living magazine’s 100 most influential, powerful and philanthropic people in the city.
Tonight it’s all about them and a few lucky guests including Brit Week honoree and former heavyweight champion of the world, Lennox Lewis. Newlyweds actor Christian Slater and his wife Brittany Lopez Slater. The Dom-soaked reception took place under Hew Locke’s For Those In Peril, installation which features beautiful painted boats suspended from the ceiling. The nautical theme went perfectly with the display of elegant watches from sponsor Ulysse Nardin, which attendees like Southern Wine & Spirits President Wayne Chaplin, his wife Arlene, Valerio Morabito, Oscar and Ellen Feldenkriess and Roy and Lea Black got to view.
Following the reception guests moved upstairs to a private balcony to sit in the Tui Lifestyle lounge and enjoy a Stephen Starr dinner while taking in the lights of the city. Developer Jeff Berkowitz was on hand to point out the site of his new SkyRise Miami, which could be seen from the panoramic city view from the second floor of the PAMM.
Indeed, when CEO and Haute Living publisher Kamal Hotchandani addressed the room during dinner, he pointed out that most of Miami’s skyline had been made by individuals at the dinner. Part of that all-important crowd were Ugo and Sarah Colombo, Edgardo and Ana Cristina Defortuna, presenting sponsors of the event via their very own Herzog & de Meuron project in Sunny Isles, Jade Signature.
As dessert was served a video of Haute 100 members Michael Capponi, Al Malnik, David and Pedro Martin, Dora Puig, Russel Galbut, Keith Menin and Don and Katrina Peebles (who were all present except Mr. Malnik), thanking the magazine for featuring them and wishing Haute Living a Happy10th Anniversary , as the publication is preparing to hit the decade mark this summer.
After dinner, the energetic set headed downstairs to an afterparty on the famous deck of the PAMM. A new crop of guests including Jillian Jacobson, Benny Shabthai, Danny Jeleca, Jessica Anderson and MPH’s Liram Sustiel and Stac Yagu came to enjoy the view and music by DJ Michelle Pooch, drinks by Belvedere and world-famous macarons by Ladurée.
