SF Symphony and Placido Domingo salutes Gordon Getty’s 80th birthday5

The San Francisco Symphony saluted Gordon Getty at his 80th Birthday with a special concert on Jan. 6 featuring Placido Domingo and Frederica von Stade along with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus and conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, Ragnar Bohlin and Placido Domingo. The program included the works of Strauss, Mahler, Verdi, Beethoven, Lehar and some of Gordon Getty’s own compositions from the Ancestor Suite, Four Dickinson Songs and his most recent work APrayer for My Daughter. This concert offers attendees an unique musical evening while honoring Gordon Getty’s enduring support of San Francisco Symphony. There was also a formal birthday dinner at Zellerbach Room prior to the concert. The evening was hosted by Vanessa and Billy Getty with proceeds benefit San Francisco Symphony Orchestra’s pension fund.
