South Beach has had its share of impresarios, but none who have reached the dizzying heights of David Grutman who managed to make LIV, a sprawling 18,000 a hotel club, the club. Now he’s at it again with the DJ-heavy Story in SoFi. The clubs’ success can be attributed to the Miami Marketing Group’s co-founder’s attention to detail, unique vision and laser focus on throwing the best party every night. His extremely impressive list of contacts doesn’t hurt either.

10:00am Believe it or not, I’m up at 10, then I go to Jugofresh. I like the Acai bowl and an animal energy shot.
10:30am I do an hour-long boxing workout at the 5th street gym.
12:00pm I go to my office on Lincoln Rd.
12:30pm  I usually meet Nicola Siervo at Quattro outside to have an espresso and talk about what’s going on in the nightclub business.
1:00pm I like to have lunch at Carrot Express, right next to Macaluso’s…it’s so good.
2:00pm I’m back at the office, working.
4:00pm  This is when I have my weekly operation meetings,  my promoter meetings for Liv and Story.
6:30pm I come home.
10:00pm I am always out at a dinner with whatever celebrity DJ or table customer is in town. My new favorite place to go for dinner is Michael Mina 74. It’s awesome.
He’s such a great guy; I think he’s amazing.
12:30am I go to LIV where I’m directing and yelling at everybody. I’m throwing a party, so I have to make sure all the puzzle pieces are working. I usually orchestrate from the DJ booth. I get a good view of the whole club from there.
1:30am  I shoot over to Story nightclub. The thing about LIV and Story is that we have some of the world’s biggest DJs coming in every weekend and they need attention. I have customers spending up to $200,000 on tables that need attention as well.
2:00am I’m doing shots of Wodka Vodka, hanging out with whoever is in town. I usually get a good mix of people. It could be anybody. During Art Basel, I hung out with Kanye, Kenny Scharf, Steve Angello and his wife, Isabel Adrian. Every night there’s something different.
4:00am I’m usually on my way home. I get by on 4 to 6 hours of sleep. That’s enough for me.
