19th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball This Saturday

Burn Notice

On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, the sold-out 19th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball will take place with a Vaudeville era theme featuring old-world magic and illusions. Headlining the splashy event is Grammy-nominated recording artist Adam Lambert, whose electro-pop style will add to the magical quality of the evening.

After an excellent turn last year, Gala Chairman Shareef Malnik’s girlfriend and actress Gabrielle Anwar will return as the ball’s celebrity auctioneer to lead the bidding war for lavish auction items. Look for an all-inclusive trip to the Vatulele Resort in Figi, a CORUM “Golden Bridge” sapphire crystal watch, a trip to St. Tropez with lodging at the Domaine Bertaud Belieu, a 2014 Maserati Ghibli, and more than 125 other premium packages.

In its 18-year history, the event has raised more than $12.3 million, enough to grant wishes for 2,620 children with life-threatening medical conditions. Last year, Al and Nancy Malnik gave a record breaking $1 million donation. Over the years, celebrity guests have included Paula Abdul, Sharon Stone, Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons, Mike Piazza, Kim Kardashian and Venus and Serena Williams.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Following the cocktails, dinner and celebrity entertainment is the 6th Annual Intercontinental Miami Make-A-Wish Nightclub, which serves as the night’s younger after party and lasts from 10:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. There, designer Traver Rains will debut his “La Nuit Magique” collection at a high-energy runway show inspired by a 1930s vaudevillian show. With a celebrity following that includes Adam Lambert, Perez Hilton and Taryn Manning, Rains is known for avant-garde custom couture that is right at home on the red carpet.

“This year, guests can expect lots of skin, with a tiny hint of bondage during the fashion show,” said Rains. “And, of course, there will be many fashion moments on the runway that will make guests gasp and smile.” After the show, guests can to step into character and dance on the catwalk or, for voyeurs, watch live burlesque shows, as well as other outrageous surprises, as the night continues.

Tickets for the InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Nightclub are $100, (for those already attending the Ball prior, there is no charge) and can be purchased at https://hotelballafterparty2013.eventbrite.com. There will be a complimentary open bar and suitable evening attire is required.
