Latin Pop star and Haute-lister Alejandro Sanz has traveled to Apusiaajik glacier in Greenland’s arctic circle to highlight the global problem of climate change. He made the trip with Greenpeace, for which he is an ambassador. The expedition is only a few days after a group of Greenpeace protesters climbed London’s Shard, the tallest building in Western Europe, to rail against Shell Oil’s plan to begin drilling in the arctic.

Although the weather in the Artic is the polar opposite of his hometown Miami,  Sanz hopes to raise awareness to the fragile ecosystem that is currently threatened by climate change. According to Greenpeace, the Artic has the potential to be ice-free within two decades, which will cause major environmental problems without any environmental efforts to help curb it.

“We have to acknowledge the fact that if we help save the Arctic we’re saving much more,” Sanz recently said in a statement released by the organization. Sanz will make the trek with Greenpeace and invites others to take action as well.
