Miami Design District Brings Together Commerce and Culture for 2012 Art Week

News | December 4, 2012

2012 Art Week kicked off last night with a presentation by Mathieu Le Bozec, on behalf of Dacra and L Real Estate, on the culture and shopping experience in the Miami Design District. To mark the occasion, more than 30 cultural exhibitions and luxury store openings will occur leading up to a special night of events on December 6.

The week-long program of events and exhibitions will include fashion, culture and performance, and the gathering of the best international and Miami-based artists and designers. According to a press release, the Miami Design District events are held in conjunction with Art Basel Miami Beach and Design Miami 2012.

An 18-square block Design District neighborhood will feature “unique installations, events and environments, with the iconic Buena Vista Building acting as a central hub.” Recently opened or soon-to-be-open retailers like Celine, Cartier, Dior Homme, Louis Vuitton and Prada will join the exhibitions to offer visitors an “unparalleled experience”. Exhibitions and programming will include a live performance element, an exhibition by Acconci Studio (Design Miami/Designer of the Year), a “provocative cabaret”, and more.
