Godiva Debuts Charitable “Feed 8” Origins Collection with Lauren Bush Lauren

Legendary chocolatier Godiva has debuted an exclusive charitable “Feed 8” origins collection in partnership with Lauren Bush Lauren and the Feed Project as part of Godiva’s corporate philanthropy initiative, “The Lady Godiva Program”.

Godiva is teaming up with Feed to provide meals to 300,000 children around the world through on-going collaborations in 2012. Godiva has just announced that as part of their corporate philanthropy initiative, “The Lady Godiva Program” they have teamed with Feed Projects to launch a new line of limited-edition chocolates, the Feed 8 Godiva Origins Collection.

Godiva boutiques nationwide will offer the indulgent collection and initiative pledges to feed 80,000 impoverished children around the world this holiday season, as a way of furthering the brand’s commitment to give back in cocoa producing regions, according to the press release.

The eight-piece Feed 8 Godiva Origins Collection includes chocolates that originate from nations such as Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ecuador and Uganda. Each box of chocolate sold will provide eight school meals for children in cocoa producing regions in Ecuador and Uganda.

The collection features four flavors, with two pieces per flavor in each box. There is an Ecuador Dark 71% made with Forastero Nacional beans; Costa Rica Milk 37% made with Trinitario beans; Uganda Dark 80% made with Forastero Nacional beans; and Venezuela Milk 43% made with Criollo and Trinitario beans.

Meals resulting from the collection will be distributed through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to help support school feeding operations.

Chief Marketing Officer of Godiva Chocolatier, Lauri Kien Kotcher, said, “With the gift of the Feed 8 Godiva Origins Collection for the holiday, consumers will not only be showing their friends and family members love and appreciation, but they will also be making a difference in children’s lives.”

The limited edition 8-piece set retails for $25 per box.

The Lady Godiva Program celebrates inspirational women around the world who embody the spirit of Lady Godiva through attributes such as selfishness, generosity and leadership on both a national and local level.

Once complete, Godiva will have provided over 300,000 school means to children worldwide through its extensive collaboration with Feed Projects, which was co-founded by Lauren Bush Lauren with the mission of creating good products that help feed the world. Lauren Bush Lauren is the first National Lady Godiva Honoree. She and the Feed team have provided over 60 million school meals to children living in 62 countries throughout the world through the United Nationals WFP.
