Destination Fashion Raises $31 million for the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis

News | November 14, 2012

The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis’ Destination Fashion is easily the biggest fundraiser in Miami – so big in fact, that it only takes place once every three years. This year the event was presented by Micky and Madeleine Arison and raised $31 million on a single night – boosted by a generous $25 million gift from Christine E. Lynn. The event, which takes place at Bal Harbour Shops, was emceed by NBC Correspondent Tom Brokaw, and attended by Miami’s biggest names. Celebs like Tommy Lee Jones, Nacho Figueras, Todd English and Helio Castronoves, Gloria Estefan showed up to enjoy a fabulous dinner, Pucci Runway show and private concert by Enrique Iglesias. The Bal Harbour Shops stayed open for business and were transformed with twinkling lights, Chinese dragons, African drummers, live animals and an endless sea of desserts sponsored by philanthropists taking guests “around the world.”
