Haute Auto, News | December 28, 2011

After more than two decades, fans finally had a shot at purchasing one of the most talked about memorabilia from Back to the Future. That’s right, the auction closed bidding for the DeLorean at $541,200. What makes this car so worth the price is the installed Volkswagen V-6 engine, a full roll-cage and a replaced suspension. What more could a buyer ask for? Some might remember the futuristic car that many people of all ages have cherished for years in the Back to the Future trilogy. The sleek, DeLorean DMC-12 also known as the time machine used by stars, Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox.

However, the DMC-12 wasn’t the only nostalgia, up for sale within the past few days. Nike just announced that they would be selling replicas of shoes from the second movie, called ‘Nike Mag’ shoes.

As we all know, Michael J. Fox has suffered with Parkinson’s disease for some time now. So the recent auction of the surviving cars, have raised proceeds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation. The star’s foundation has been known for being the world’s largest Parkinson’s researcher privately funded and with the success of the close bidding for the DeLorean, we expect more great things.
