Louis Vuitton Celebrates 20 Years in China with Special Museum Exhibit

News | June 2, 2011

Beijing’s National Museum of China in Tiananmen Square celebrates 20 years of Louis Vuitton in China with an exclusive summer exhibit entitled “Voyages,” which showcases some of the brand’s most iconic and innovative collections as original and inspiring works of art.

Guests can step into the lush halls of the newly renovated museum to find enormous glass cases that display dozens of LouisVuitton’s most admired designs in addition to rare, never before seen pieces. The exhibit takes viewers on a journey through the history of the 150-plus-year-old brand, from its infancy as a high-society luggage line to the world fashion phenomenon that it has become today.

Though some locals remain skeptical about the exhibition’s relevance, overall, the collection proves to be the perfect marriage of commercial appeal and artistic inspiration. Until now, very few people understood the historic significance that the LV brand has played in shaping the role of luxury brands throughout the world; and fewer realize Louis Vuitton’s impact on the luxury goods influx throughout China in the past 20 years.

The show will run through Aug. 30, 2011.
