World’s Most Expensive Cell Phone to Make Official Debut at Baselworld

It was almost a year ago that Haute Living got an exclusive preview of the hautest gadget that would soon hit the market–the Ulysse Nardin Chairman, the world’s first and finest luxury hybrid smart phone.

We got a taste of the Chairman back in December when we interviewed Bobby Yampolsky, co-founder of SCI (Scientific Cellular Innovations) the company behind the cell phone’s creation), But now, the diamond-encrusted cell phone will make its worldwide debut next week at Baselworld in Switzerland.

This is the first time that the $50,000 cell phone will be unveiled in its full operational form, including its signature Ulysse Nardin mechanical watch rotor that creates kinetic energy to supply supplemental power to the phone. The phone is also compatible with GSM and 3G networks around the globe, and boasts 32GB of memory, a 3.2-inch touch screen with thumb print recognition, and an 8 megapixel camera.

Baselworld will take place from March 24 to March 31, 2001. Soon after, The Chairman will be available for purchase in Russia, the United States and parts of Europe.
