What Makes Her Haute: This seductive songstress (and Latin Grammy winner) is one of the most prominent crossover artists. Her collaboration with Wyclef for the No. 1 track “Hips Don’t Lie” earned her a Grammy nomination, and this past year, the airwaves have been dominated by tracks from her latest album She Wolf, which she co-wrote and produced. Shakira’s nonprofit organization, Pies Descalzos (which means “barefoot” in English), is aimed at helping Colombian children that have been the victims of violence, and she is also an ambassador for Unicef.

What Makes Her Haute Now: Shakira, recently won two awards at the NRJ Music Awards 2011 in Cannes, France on Jan. 22. The NRJ Awards, which is the equivalent to the American Grammy Awards, started in 2000 and has been held annually ever since in mid-January. Shakira, who was accompanied by both of her parents, graced the red carpet in a black sparkling mini dress with a ruffle hem by Azzedine Alaia. She paired the dress with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, a black Christian Louboutin clutch, and Sergio Rossi black patent leather peeptoe platform pumps. She won International Female Artist of the Year and International Song of the Year for her single, “Waka Waka”.
