Fashion Meets Funk: John Varvatos Bowery Store Hosts Blackbells Concert for Private Audience

News | January 11, 2011

The iconic John Varvatos store held its first live concert of 2011 with The Blackbells at 315 Bowery. Guests including Mick Rock enjoyed the live music of the Brooklyn-based band while sipping on some signature Original Moonshine cocktails. The series, called “John Varvatos’ Thursday Nite Live” is presented by Original Moonshine will feature a different live musical act every first Thursday night of each month (except, of course, during February and September’s Fashion Weeks).

Since its launch in November of last year, Thursday Nite Live has featured Sons of Albion and the Madison Square Gardeners. The Blackbells say their influences range from Echo and the Bunnymen to Oasis. They definitely put out a unique sound with Wall of Sound guitars and lots of percussion to back up those melodious vocals. We’re looking forward to what’s to come in 2011!
