Haute Event: Gucci Beverly Hills and J. Lo Introduce Gucci Children’s Collection

Over the weekend, the Gucci boutique on Rodeo Drive welcomed the launch of the Gucci Children’s Collection with a special event hosted by Jennifer Lopez. The entire first floor of the store was transformed in to a children’s play area with face painting, coloring, candy and a chance to test out the new Gucci iPhone App’s interactive game called “Playground” that has users dress up dolls in Gucci children’s clothing, as well as and color Gucci-themed templates.

Lopez showed up in a simple, short, chocolate-colored strapless dress from Gucci’s Cruise 2011 collection with khaki green caged-pumps and Gucci 18-karat gold bracelets. She eventually changed into something a slightly more comfortable – a black jersey jumpsuit with gold details from Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection with a black leather and gold metal belt and a Gucci black suede sandals and a python clutch. Her other accessories? Her children, of course! Max and Emme also showed up dressed to the nines in Gucci. Emme wore a white and navy striped dress with red bow, while Max wore a light blue cotton Gucci “GG” print shirt and white pants. Lopez and her children also star in the new ad campaign for the launch of the collection.

The Gucci Children’s Collection, designed for girls and boys under 8 years old, was the brainchild of Creative Director Frida Giannini. The collection also includes shoes, small leather goods, jewelry, sunglasses, scarves and blankets. In honor of the collection Gucci has pledged $1 million to UNICEF’s “Schools for Africa” program.

Other appearances were made by Gucci America President Laura Lendrum, UNICEF CEO and President Caryl Stern, actress Garcelle Beauvais with her two sons, Leah Remini with her daughter, and many others.
