Flavio Briatore’s Billionaire Store Opens in Moscow
The Billionaire fashion store that is owned by Renault Formula One team Principal Flavio Briatore opened in Moscow. The Italian tycoon’s menswear label, Billionaire Couture, was launched in prestigious and one of the most expensive shopping areas in the world at Tretiakovsky proezd, home of Bvlgari, Ralph Lauren, Chopard, Armani, Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Baccarat boutiques. It’s a debut Billionaire store in Russia, though two corners in TSUM department store and Barvikha Luxury Village opened already in 2008 and draw a huge interest to the label.
The event gathered a lot of potential customers. The entrance to the 538-square-foot boutique was organized through the Ferrari saloon. Briatore himself spent very little time in the store and went to an after-party directly followed by his guests.
Established in 2005 with Italian designer Angelo Galasso, the label is named after Briatore’s exclusive Sardinian club, Billionaire. The designs themselves are as subtle as the name, featuring exotic-skin shoes, jewel-studded jackets and peacock-patterned silk shirts. The price tag on a long-sleeved shirt is more than $980, while a printed leather jacket clocks in at more than $5,300. A crocodile-skin jacket will cost you more than $8,000, while a pair of delicately embroidered slippers cost above $1,000. Famous customers of the Billionaire brand include David Beckham, Sir Paul McCartney, Harrods ex-owner Mohammed Al-Fayed and ex-James Bond Roger Moore.
Aside from the new Billionaire in Moscow, Briatore’s high-end fashion empire boasts stores in Vienna, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Dubai and London. Briatore plans to extend his clothing venture by opening stores in Istanbul and Kazakhstan.
