Whitney Port Discusses Motherhood And Her New Role As Chief Brand Officer Of Bundle Organics
Rockstar mom Whitney Port has been quite vocal with her pregnancy and newfound motherhood and she shows no signs (thankfully) of slowing down. This fall, Whitney just joined forces with the Bundle Organics team as the Chief Brand Officer and together, they’re launching 24 new products this season which she developed during her own pregnancy journey.
Bundle Organics is a line of perinatal nutritional products designed to help expecting and nursing mothers maintain a healthy and active lifestyle while nourishing their little ones from the very beginning. The products are organic, non-GMO, and carefully designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of women who are pregnant, nursing and those trying to conceive. We caught up with Whitney about her new role at Bundle Organics as well as her journey through motherhood.
What excites you the most about being the Chief Brand Officer of Bundle Organics?
It’s exciting to be part of a brand that helps nourish expecting and new moms during their pregnancy journey. These are all products I wish I had had when I was pregnant with Sonnyand so I’m excited to be able to offer quick, healthy and organic snacks and drinks for busy moms-to-be and new moms. What I really love about Bundle Organics products is that it is complete, and well thought out– it gets women through their entire journey, from before conception to after birth, the most crucial stages of becoming a mother.
How is Bundle Organics formulated to help new moms?
Bundle uses ingredients that help support a women’s health through every stage of pregnancy- from those trying to conceive to expecting moms to new moms who are nursing. Our fertility line has ingredients high in nutrients including folic acid, vitamin E, D, zinc, selenium, essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which work to support and enhance fertility. Our pregnancy line is high protein, vitamin- and mineral-rich and crafted with specific nutrients—including calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, B6, B12, beta carotene, folic acid and healthy fats. And our nursing line is designed to help enhance breastmilk quality, with ingredients like folate, probiotics and a traditional herbal mix of fenugreek, fennel, blessed thistle, raspberry leaf and alfalfa work to increase milk supply.
What was your experience with nutrition during this time in your life? How could Bundle Organics helped you?
I really struggled with nausea in my first trimester. And I have a very sensitive palette, so I was limited with what I was able to eat and snack on. Because Bundle products are mild in flavor yet tasty and packed with nutrition, you get the best of both worlds.
What struggles did you experience that inspired you to join this project?
My biggest struggles were nausea in the first trimester and breastfeeding. I was always on the search to keep my stomach full and for anything that was fizzy! Had I been able to keep these healthy snacks in my purse or the fizzy drink mix with me at all time, I would have been more taken care of!!! Unfortunately, breastfeeding didn’t come naturally to me so I solely pumped for 6 months straight and for mastitis 3 times. Had I had the amazing teas and Lactation support snacks, I think I would have felt like I was nourishing my body through such an exhausting time and at least knowing I was taking control and giving my body the best nutrients for it at that specific time.
Why is living an active lifestyle so important for new moms and moms in general?
It really goes back to the idea that if you care for yourself, you can care for others, and staying active and getting those endorphins going helps with the feeling of balance. That said, staying active also doesn’t mean moms have to commit to a rigid workout schedule. It’s about getting activity in where you can, be it, a walk around the block, taking the stairs, every little bit counts!
What surprised you during your pregnancy journey? What type of advice would you give to others?
A lot of my journey was a surprise! I’m a planner by nature but during my pregnancy I made a conscience decision to not plan every single moment. And this in itself was surprising because I was able to take each stage as it came and deal with it in my own way, and what felt good at the time. I continue to live by a piece of advice a mom friend told me; “Everything is a phase.” If you’re nauseous in the begin, it will pass, if your baby isn’t sleeping, it will pass. These four little words have been able to get me through some tough phases, that eventually passed!
Can you give us any sneak-peak into what’s happening next with Bundle Organics?
Last month, we launched in buybuy BABY stores nation-wide and online. And we’ll continue this momentum by launching in Target and Amazon in 2019.
