Dr. Gene Lee

Dr. Gene K. Lee is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Beverly Hills, California, and the founder of LA MÔEM Plastic Surgery. He completed a full General Surgery residency followed by a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency, giving him comprehensive dual-residency training in both general and plastic surgery.

His path into medicine was shaped by an early fascination with biology and anatomy. Dr. Lee initially aimed to become a transplant surgeon, but during his training at the University of Southern California, where he completed residencies in both General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he discovered the profound impact plastic surgery could have on a person's identity, self-esteem, and quality of life.

Education and Training. Dr. Lee earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, with minors in Philosophy and Neuroscience, from Washington University in St. Louis; a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management from Harvard University; and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery residency at USC's Keck Hospital and Los Angeles General Medical Center, and his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at USC, serving as chief resident across institutions including Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, City of Hope National Cancer Center, and Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. He also completed a CIRM research fellowship at USC.

The name LA MÔEM reflects heritage, place, and purpose. As Dr. Lee explains, "Môem," the Korean word for body, honors his roots and the belief that the face and body should be cared for as one harmonious whole, while Los Angeles represents creativity, diversity, and modern beauty.
