Christopher Helt

Mr. Helt concentrates in federal immigration litigation, including political asylum, refugee law, deportation and removal defense, U.S. citizenship and naturalization, immigration appeals, and family-based immigration matters. He represents clients at all levels, from the U.S. Immigration Court to federal circuit courts of appeal.

Mr. Helt is licensed to practice in the Illinois State Bar (admitted May 1994) and is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, and 11th Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal. He maintains a nationwide immigration practice with offices in Chicago, Illinois and Atlanta, Georgia.

Mr. Helt holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rating (the highest lawyer rating possible), has been designated an Illinois Super Lawyer, holds a 10.0 rating on Avvo, was named Chicago's Top-Rated Lawyer by ALM, and received the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award. He is the 2024-25 President of the National Trial Lawyers' Immigration Law section.

Yes. Mr. Helt is an active member of the American Bar Association's Military Pro Bono Project and provides pro bono legal representation to low-income clients. In 2015, he received a Humanitarian Award from LULAC of Illinois for his pro bono service to Honduran refugee families and unaccompanied children.
