A New York resident has initiated legal action against Kim Kardashian over a social media post she made a year ago. The post, intended to advocate for convicted murderer Ivan Cantu just days before his execution in Texas, urged followers to sign a petition for clemency. However, it included a photograph of a different individual—also named Ivan Cantu—who resides in New York.
Kardashian’s legal team has acknowledged the mistake, stating that the image was removed promptly upon discovery. The New York plaintiff filed a lawsuit on Thursday, alleging libel, slander, and emotional distress. Kardashian’s attorneys have expressed a willingness to resolve the matter amicably but affirm that they will defend her in court if necessary.
In recent years, Kardashian has been pursuing legal studies with the goal of becoming an attorney.
