Nicki Minaj is facing a lawsuit filed by Brandon Garrett, a former day-to-day manager on her Pink Friday 2 tour, who alleges assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, details an incident that allegedly occurred backstage at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena on April 21, following one of Minaj’s concerts.
According to the lawsuit, Garrett was called to Minaj’s dressing room by her head of security after running an errand at her request. The complaint states that Minaj, visibly upset, confronted Garrett and another employee, Luke Montgomery, over staff responsibilities, including tasks such as prescription pickups.
Garrett claims that during the confrontation, Minaj struck him on the right side of his face and wrist, causing physical pain. Following the alleged incident, Garrett says he locked himself in a restroom and later contacted police departments in Detroit and Chicago, filing a report in Detroit.
The lawsuit alleges Minaj made threats during the confrontation, including comments about damaging Garrett’s career. The filing also details Garrett’s dismissal from the tour immediately after the incident.
Garrett seeks punitive and general damages in the case. Witness testimony from staff who were reportedly present during the alleged incident could be central to the proceedings. The outcome of this case may depend on corroborating evidence and statements.
