Actress Angie Harmon has initiated legal action against Instacart and a former shopper, following the tragic death of her dog, Oliver. Harmon filed a lawsuit in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, accusing the shopper and Instacart of various offenses, including trespassing, gross negligence, emotional distress, and invasion of privacy. The complaint also alleges negligent hiring, supervision, retention, and misrepresentation on the part of Instacart. Seeking monetary damages to be determined at trial, the lawsuit contends that Instacart bears significant responsibility for the incident. Furthermore, it notes that Instacart has permanently banned the shopper from its platform.

Harmon, renowned for her roles in television series such as “Law & Order” and “Rizzoli & Isles,” expressed her views on Instacart’s involvement in an interview, stating, “I think Instacart is beyond responsible for all of this. This didn’t have to happen.” The lawsuit details that Harmon placed an Instacart groceries order from a Charlotte store on March 30, where the Instacart app indicated a shopper named Merle with a profile photo of an older woman, with whom Harmon believed she was communicating regarding her order.
