Burger King has been sued by vegans for allegedly having meat in its Impossible Whopper burger, which launched this August.

The lawsuit was filed by Phillip Williams, a vegan in Atlanta, Georgia over the fast food chain’s cooking practices for their vegan-friendly sandwich.

In what might be a difficult resolution if it went against the company, Wlliams demands that the Impossible Whopper be cooked on a grill separate from the meat patties. He is also seeking damages.

The class-action lawsuit claims that the Impossible Whopper he ordered in an Atlanta location was “contaminated” by meat contents because it was cooked on the same grill as beef Whoppers, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

Williams alleges that vegans around the U.S. are “outraged” at Burger King’s cooking practices. Also, that the menu makes no “disclosure” that the end result would include meat by-products

The company has said in the past that the Impossible Whopper would be made in an “open kitchen environment, providing an asterisk on the item’s launch page. It allows diners the option to ask for the Impossible Whopper patty to be cooked in an oven.

Burger King joins McDonald’s as both chains face lawsuits.
