While injectables for cellulite continue to be effective, Haute Beauty expert Dr. Sachin Shridharani now offers another option for patients looking to reduce their cellulite with faster and more precise results. Unlike injectables and all prior technologies, Avéli is the only device that has proven real reproducible outcomes in the buttock and thigh in a single procedure. The device allows the physician to identify and target only the septa responsible for cellulite depression without destroying the surrounding structure. Here Haute Beauty sat down with Dr. Shridharani to discuss more on the treatment.

Explain how Avéli works.

Cellulite are dimples created by fibrous bands called septa that attach muscle to skin. Avéli works by hooking onto and releasing these septa. Because of the design of the device, Dr. Shridharani is able to verify the work of releasing the bands before he moves on.

What is the recovery time?

Dr. Shridharani’s patients have typically returned to normal activities within one day post-treatment. They can expect to experience mild discomfort or pain during the first days, which normally resolve within 1-2 weeks.

How quickly will a patient see the results?

Dr. Shridharani’s patients have seen their results immediately after the procedure. Side effects including bruising and swelling should resolve within 30 days.

Are there any risks involved?

Like any procedure, there are always risks involved. Although the main risks with Avéli seem to be mild in nature. The most common concern with any cellulite treatment is post-procedure cosmetic dissatisfaction as full smoothening of the buttocks or thighs is not always possible. The most severe complication likely to occur is over-treatment of the skin leading to worsening skin laxity and/or fluid collection development (seroma).

Is the patient awake during the procedure?

The beauty of this procedure is that with Dr. Shridharani’s technique, Avéli can be performed on a patient awake or with anesthesia. A host of various factors help determine the best treatment plan for each patient.

Can Avéli only be used on the buttock and thighs?

Avéli with Dr. Shridharani has been FDA-approved to treat dimples aka cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. He is not yet using it to treat other areas of the body.
