S’Able Labs, A Skin Care Line Created By Idris and Sabrina Elba, Is Now In The Works

Celebrity, News March 4, 2022 By Isabella Harrison

Last week the power couple Idris and Sabrina Elba shared their plans for a genderless skincare line with Vogue. The Elbas feel passionate about their COVID-born idea and look forward to tapping into the wellness industry while combatting the many gender-charged notions of the beauty industry. Between modeling, acting, working on their podcast, Coupledom, together, and now this the Elbas are definitely busy.

As any good entrepreneur does, they were able to identify a gap within an industry and set specific goals for them to meet those needs within the wellness community. “We realized quickly that there was no one doing it in the wellness space that looked like, spoke like, or felt like us—there was no representation for people of color who wanted to be into wellness and fit in,” Sabrina said. Their idea for S’Able Labs came shortly after. Having more experience testing out skincare, Sabrina has been guiding and educating Idris on the industry.

Sabrina tells Vogue “It began during a conversation Idris and I had at a time in which we felt disconnected from our community. It opened up the idea of wellbeing and self-care that we hadn’t really thought of before—looking at wellness from the outside in, in terms of your community and who’s around you. That’s when it clicked.” The brand is ultimately aimed at creating a feeling of inclusivity for its consumer. Because of this, the skincare line will be “affordable but luxury”.

Their new brand S’Able Labs cleverly named their last name ‘Elbas’ backward, is a true test on the couple’s ability to work together on a project that is vastly different from the podcast formatting. Sabrina admits to Vogue that it’s not always easy but their vision for the project keeps them going explaining, “It definitely had its hardships—we’d be completely lying if we didn’t admit that off the bat. But at the same time, it’s brought us so much closer together. We have a shared purpose of creating this change, and we remind each other that it’s okay if it’s hard sometimes, because it just leads to better outcomes.”

It seems like they have their work dynamic figured out and appear genuinely excited to deliver their products to assist those who struggle with skin issues like hyperpigmentation to inflammation. Their progressive approach to skincare and wellness is sure to make waves in the industry whenever it launches and maybe create new standards for other wellness brands.
