A bustling practice and steady stream of television appearances keeps plastic surgeon Dr. Sachin Shridharani of LUXURGERY in New York City quite busy, but he still finds time to travel, enjoy sports and indulge in his favorite cuisine. Here, his top five ways to make the most of his precious downtime—as well as who he spends it with.
Travel destination…
“My favorite country to travel to has always been Singapore. I love the culture, food and, of course, visiting my family and friends who live there. Singapore is a great place to lay over as well, and I always spend a few days there when Hong Kong, Bali, Seoul, Taipei or Sydney is my final destination. And for the record, I started frequenting S’pore years before Crazy Rich Asians hit the silver screen!”
Favorite sports…
“I started playing tennis and soccer at five years old and never looked back—at least not until medical school. I was actually a collegiate-level dual-sport recruit, and even received college scholarships for both sports!”
Ideal meal…
“Nothing compares to my mother’s kitchen in New York City. She serves up the best meals and when you travel as much as I do, I crave the comfort of my favorite childhood dishes. If FOUR Michelin stars were possible, my mom would have won them!”
For a night out…
“My favorite spot in New York City is the Rose Bar in the Gramercy Park Hotel because of its extravagant mix of great people and amazing music. When I first moved to New York City I lived just one block away, this is where I made my very first friends. Beyond the entertainment and chic crowd, the bar is filled with exclusive art, and many of the original pieces gracing the walls of LUXURGERY have commonality with the artwork at the Rose Bar.”
On the weekend…
“Nothing recharges my battery after a long week like waking up on the weekend and walking across the street into Central Park with my sidekick, Bentley. My Maltese-Shih Tzu puppy loves to spend hours running wild in the park while I get some fresh air amid the concrete jungle that is Manhattan.”
Must-attend event…
“My favorite sporting event is the U.S. Open and I attend the event as much as I can. Being a former competitive tennis player, I love to watch the pros play in this New York-based Grand Slam. Most years, we plan a LUXURGERY team outing to the Open.”
