Actress and businesswoman Jessica Alba just revealed a skincare line that caters to mothers.
Expecting her third kid with husband Cash Warren, Alba has tapped her own experience with pregnancy to devise a skincare collection that helps women reign on the hormonal changes that accompany childbearing.
Founder of The Honest Company and Honest Beauty, Alba recently admitted that she struggled with the double bane of breakouts and fine lines during most of her first pregnancy with daughter Honor.
“I saw that there was a gap in the marketplace — it was so hard to find a product that was both anti-acne and anti-aging,” the actress said, as quoted by Bit+Co. “ I wanted to create a skincare solution that addressed both of these concerns that so many women in their mid-20s to 40s face day to day.”
What Alba developed is the Younger + Clearer collection, which arrived on August 25. The line is infused with clean ingredients, such as the company’s Honestly Pure Retinol, tapioca dextrin as well as salicylic acid, blended in high-performance formulas sans any additives.
The line features six items – Spot-On Remedy ($14), Resurfacing Gel Cleanser ($28), Clarifying Toner ($16), Night Serum with Honestly Pure Retinol ($38), Nourishing Lotion ($32), and Ant-Acne Ant-Aging Regimen Kit ($29).
The skincare collection, though, comes with a major pitfall – doctors do not recommend using retinol or salicylic acid when pregnant. Even though Alba said she has tested the products before conceiving, she is now refraining from using them.
“[B]ut I can’t wait to start using it again this spring,” she said.
