Kim Kardashian-West Faces Lawsuit over KKW Beauty Line

Kim Kardashian-West just landed in a hot mess over her newly launched makeup brand.

Kim K is facing a lawsuit over the logo of her KKW Beauty collection as Danish makeup artist Kristen Kjaer Weis contends it resembles the initials of her own luxe-eco Kjaer Weis brand.

Now confirmed by various publications, the news was first reported by TMZ, based on documents the celebrity gossip website had obtained on Tuesday.

Weis, who founded KW seven years ago, claims that Kim K “knowing[ly], willing[ly] and deliberate[ly]” copied her logo – an action, which has undermined KW’s profits by creating confusion between the two makeup lines.

KKW

While Kim K has remained silent herself, representatives claim that they have sought the counsel of several “veteran trademark attorneys” prior to the launch of KKW and are, thus, confident in its uniqueness.

Although both Kim K and Weis focus on high-end cosmetics, they seem to take disparate approaches, commentators say. Weis’s products sell in metal packaging, embossed with a serif logo that plays on negative space. Kardashian-West’s sole contour kit features pale, plastic cylinders branded with “KKW” in simple, bold font.

KW

Upon its debut on June 21, KKW kit, which retailed for $38, sold out in a matter of minutes, bringing in over $14 million for the realty TV icon.
