Rediscover your inner fitness-queen (or your I-just-want-to-be-healthy princess) with these lovely organic ingredients and soothe your body, mind and soul with these four appetizing and very healthy recipes. You’ll be back to your fit, energetic self in no time.
Make yourself a salad with… artichokes, asparagus, avocados, beets, broccoli, cabbage and a sprinkle of olive oil:
Every ingredient in the salad helps heal your liver and cleanse your belly. Artichokes help your body get rid of toxins and use your food’s nutrients efficiently. It is also filled with fiber and protein, potassium and many other goodies your holiday-tired body is begging for. Asparagus is not only delicious, it is also anti-aging and anti-inflammatory. It helps protect your heart and detox your body, much like avocados. With a hint of healthy fat from a side of guac, you’re all set! Beets, known as one of the “superfoods” is famous for fighting cancer and ridding your body of dangerous toxins. Hopefully you’re not one of those who hate broccoli because as one of the healthiest veggies, it is an expert in turning toxins into something your body can process. Lastly cabbage, another detox vegetable is also greatly diuretic, which when detoxing, is a good thing.
To break down the fats, drink… dandelion and green tea:
Helping your body break down fats during digestion, dandelion is a miraculous little flower, though its root is the most relevant part in the detox process. Paired with green tea, a known anti-oxidant, this organic herb tea is ideal for healing the body and soul, as well as for keeping you cozy in this snowy season.
Here’s one hipsters will love… lemon garlic kale chips:
As much as some people may say they love kale, it’s honestly not very tasty, and that is why kale chips were invented! To make them (according to chef Nancy Fuller), preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and place the oven rack in the center of the oven. Place the kale on a sheet pan in an even layer and sprinkle the lemon zest and granulated garlic over it. Drizzle olive oil over the top and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake until it is crisp, which should be in about 20 minutes. This mouthwatering snack is great for your health for various reasons. Kale, contains plenty of nutrients and helps flush out your kidneys. Olive oil – luckily – is one f those glorious healthy fats that everyone loves. Lemon helps with digestion and to burn fat, and garlic, apart from making everything more delicious, boosts your immune system while strengthening your liver. Health never tasted so good.
To boost your energy, try a… grapefruit, ginger and lemongrass juice:
As an early morning pick-me-up, this vibrant mix is pure perfection. Just put in a blender with a cup of water and sip away! Used in Thailand, lemongrass improves skin complexion, circulation, and digestion. Do we even need anything else? Of ancient Chinese descent, ginger is a magic root which can help liver function and has astringent properties. Grapefruit is a vibrant fruit rich in nutrients and fiber. It is known for burning fat and therefore helps you lose excess weight. Start your morning right with this delightful fresh juice.
