This controlled damage is aimed at triggering your skin’s natural healing process, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin—essential proteins responsible for maintaining skin’s firmness and smoothness.
At The Skin Room, we adore this minimally invasive procedure for its ability to enhance skin health and restore that coveted summer glow. However, during the summer months, it’s crucial to adhere to these guidelines to ensure a successful treatment.
Ideal Microneedling Timing in Summer Season
At The Skin Room, we use SkinPen by Crown Aesthetics. SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device in the world, clinically proven to provide safe and effective results. Three treatments a month spaced 30 days apart is the recommended treatment plan for all microneedling sessions including the summer months.
Summer Microneedling Precautions
It is important to keep in mind that after microneedling your skin becomes more sensitive to the sun’s rays. It’s crucial to protect your skin from excessive sun exposure by wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF, wearing a hat, and seeking shade whenever possible.

The Sun’s Impact on Recovery & Results
In the first few days following microneedling, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight altogether. The sun’s rays can further irritate your skin and potentially lead to complications. It’s best to schedule your microneedling session during a period when you can limit your sun exposure. A suitable sunscreen for post-microneedling is SkinBetter Science 100% mineral Sunbetter® TONE SMART SPF.
Skincare Caution & Avoidance
We highly recommend following SkinPen post-care guidelines. Do not use any other products, including cleanser, on your skin within the first 24 hours post-procedure. Unexpected complications may occur when products not proven safe for use with microneedling are applied post-procedure. Instead of cleansing your skin, you may rinse with cool water as needed. Avoid using any active skincare topicals, such as retinoids and vitamin C for the first week after the procedure to reduce the risk of irritation.
Lifestyle Recommendations
Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration for 72 hours post-procedure, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin.
Hydration & Moisturization After Microneedling
Proper hydration is essential, especially during the summer. Drink plenty of water before and after your microneedling treatment to keep your skin hydrated and support the healing process.
