Haute Beauty expert, Dr. Amir Mortazavi, is living his lifelong dream. So much, so that when he opens the doors to Plûmp Medical Spa the realization of his passion coming to life brings tears to his eyes every time. At Plûmp Medical Spa, Dr. Mortazavi and his team believe that maintaining youthful looks has as much to do with taking care of the outside as it does the inside. We sat down with Dr. Mortazavi to learn more about his practice and his continued involvement in the field.

The future of the medical spa field:

The beauty of this field is that it is constantly shifting. Looking back we can see many different looks and standards over the last 10-20 years. But one thing that I am currently seeing, which I highly appreciate is the fact that more men are looking into getting treatments. This can be attributed to the increase in the use of social media but also the discovery of the importance of self-care.

Biggest misconception about your field?

Some think that if you visit a medical spa or any other aesthetic and cosmetic studio, you are looking for over-the-top and overdone looks. I cannot emphasize enough to my clients that less is always more. We all are aging, we cannot turn back time, but we can make it graceful. I’m a big advocate of the subtle, refreshed look.

Most requested procedures at Plûmp Medical Spa:

Over the past few months, we’ve seen a significant increase in demand for two of our most popular treatments. The first is our CooLaser Peel, which uses fractional CO2 laser technology to rejuvenate the skin with minimal downtime of only a few days. This treatment has become a favorite among our clients who want to achieve a more youthful and refreshed look without the lengthy recovery times associated with other laser treatments. The second treatment that has been in high demand is the combination of improving the nasolabial folds with plumping of the lips using dermal fillers. This approach can create a more balanced and harmonious look for the face and has been a hit with clients who want to enhance their natural features.

What surgical advancements you’re most excited about…

One of the most exciting developments in the cosmetic industry is the transition from surgical procedures to minimally invasive ones. Many treatments that previously required patients to undergo surgery, such as the non-surgical butt lift, can now be performed without a scalpel, anesthesia, or lengthy recovery times. This shift towards minimally invasive procedures is happening rapidly, and it’s great news for clients who want to enhance their appearance without the risks and downtime associated with traditional surgery. What are you best known for?

When it comes to our most popular treatments, it’s hard to choose between the liquid facelift and nonsurgical butt lift/BBL. With a liquid facelift, it’s all about understanding the art of injectables (fillers and Botox) while also having a thorough knowledge of anatomy, which can vary from person to person. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to this treatment. I take the time to study my client’s unique features by first observing and then listening to their goals and concerns. With that information, I’m able to use my artistic skills to create a customized treatment plan that will enhance their natural beauty and bring out their best features.

One of my favorite treatments to offer is the non-surgical butt lift or BBL. It’s amazing how we can now enhance our clients’ curves and beauty with absolutely no downtime. There’s nothing quite like seeing the joy on a client’s face during follow-up when they rave about their newly acquired curves. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that we’ve helped boost their confidence and given them the look they desire.

Most memorable patient reaction:

Located in front of a hotel, PLÛMP attracts a diverse range of clients, including two sisters who walked in ten minutes before closing time one day. They struck up a conversation and expressed interest in Botox and fillers. Despite being in their mid-70s, they had never had any cosmetic procedures or even facials before, but they wanted to “freshen up” for a wedding they were attending in Temecula. We were happy to help, and they trusted us enough not to want to see the process until the end. Seeing the spark in their eyes when they saw themselves in the mirror for the first time after the treatment is something that will stay with me forever. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do and the positive impact it can have on people’s lives.

What do you love most about your profession?

I love everything about my work. They say “find what you love and let it kill you,” but I’m not going to let it kill me. Instead, I find joy in doing what I love every single day. This field allows me to be both creative and artistic, while also utilizing scientific knowledge. I truly believe that this combination of skills is what makes my work unique and fulfilling.

Career-defining procedure?

While it’s difficult to pick just one area or treatment to highlight the creation of harmony with injectables, if I had to choose, I would say lip enhancement with dermal fillers. Achieving harmony and balance with injectables is always the ultimate goal, but with lip enhancement, it requires an especially delicate touch. By enhancing the natural shape and volume of the lips, we can create a look that is both aesthetically pleasing and in harmony with the rest of the face. It’s truly rewarding to see how a subtle enhancement can make such a big difference in a client’s overall appearance and confidence.

New services you’re excited to offer:

We’re excited to announce that we’re in the process of adding a minimally invasive device that can melt fat away with zero downtime. This cutting-edge technology involves a small incision through which a cannula with a laser tip, as thin as a hair, is introduced to easily glide underneath the skin of the face or body and melt away fat with just one treatment. Not only does it melt fat, but it also provides an amazing skin-tightening effect. In our opinion, this device is a game-changer for the lower face and double chin. We’re excited to offer this new treatment and look forward to discussing it further in the near future.
