Summer’s just around the corner, and let’s face it, we all want to look and feel our best when we’re out and about soaking up the sun! But fear not, because Haute Beauty expert, Dr. Munique Maia, is here to help you prepare for summer with some non-invasive and invasive techniques that will have you looking and feeling your best in no time. From head to toe, Dr. Maia has got you covered, so grab your sunscreen and let’s get ready to slay the summer!

What invasive procedures do you recommend to get ready for summer?

When we age, our skin begins to lose elasticity, with wrinkles, lines, and sagging appearing. There are some minimally invasive options to combat this. Morpheus8 for the face, neck, or body uses radio-frequency and microneedling to stimulate collagen production to tighten and smooth wrinkles on the face and body. Morpheus8 comfortably penetrates the skin at a deeper level than other needling treatments, transforming your complexion and restoring more youthful skin.

BodyTite and FaceTite are minimally invasive techniques that offer surgical results without scarring. These techniques use radio-frequency assisted lipoplasty that works to tighten the skin and reduce unwanted fat in the body or face. BodyTite is a larger device that is used for larger surfaces of the body to create a “shrink wrap” effect and can be used on the arms, abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks, or thighs. FaceTite is similar to BodyTite but is for the smaller surface of the face. It is most commonly used to define the jawline and treat sagging jowls through the lower part of the face and neck. These procedures have a downtime of about a week.

As far as major transformations, we offer tummy tucks, a surgical procedure that has downtime of 4-6 weeks. This procedure is very effective to remove the excess skin and fat below the belly button and tighten the abdominal muscles for a flat tummy. I recommend it to patients who have had multiple pregnancies or have lost weight and are looking to remove excess skin in the abdomen. Many of my patients pair this procedure with liposuction of the flanks and back as well as fat grafting to the buttocks to achieve a fully sculpted, hourglass look.

What non-invasive procedures do you recommend to get ready for summer?

We offer Emsculpt Neo, a non-invasive technique to sculpt your body in time for warmer weather that is popular among celebrities such as the Kardashians, Drew Barrymore and Megan Fox. Emsculpt Neo is a non-invasive body contouring machine that uses radio-frequency waves to burn fat and High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetics to tone muscles. The machine stimulates 20,000 muscle contractions in one 30 minute session, which is equivalent to doing 12 weeks of HIIT workouts! It’s a popular choice for many of my clients and it can be used on 9 different areas of your body, like your abdomen, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, biceps and triceps, and even your calves. The fat-burning setting can be turned off when treating the buttocks for a firm yet plump look.

Out of all the procedures (both invasive and non-invasive) which is the most popular?

Right now, Emsculpt Neo is the most popular non-invasive treatment and Morpheus8 is the most popular minimally invasive treatment. However, body contouring surgical procedures are always popular this time of the year.
