As your age creeps upon you, have you ever asked yourself – how old is too old for a facelift? Undergoing any type of cosmetic surgery as you get older pertains to more risks. Realistically speaking, age in itself should not be an obstacle for women wanting to look their best. Here Haute Beauty expert Dr. Robert Vitolo differentiates two types of 75-year-old women, a good and a poor one, and this is why:

The Good 75-Year-Old Woman

In the world of cosmetic surgery, Dr. Vitolo would coin a good 75-year-old woman as someone proactive in maintaining their appearance over the years. They’ve had a minimal facial procedure or undergone liposuction. Bottom line is that they have done things over the years to stay in top-notch condition. This woman is a great candidate for a facelift because there is less surgery involved.

The Poor 75-Year-Old Woman

Don’t take being the poor 75-year-old too literally. This means that you’ve never proactively done anything to improve your appearance over the years. This means that there is a high chance that you’ve lost weight and are now dealing with sagging skin. Your bones have demineralized, and your facial structure is smaller, but your skin remains the same. You’ve experienced aging poorly. Given you have a good medical history, four to six hours under anesthesia is still a risk that most wouldn’t recommend at your age.

If after that being said, if you are still interested in improving your appearance, you could achieve a similar goal by doing multiple less invasive procedures, that could be done with no local anesthesia.  If needed you could still have surgical procedures that could be staged over time. You’d first undergo upper and lower eyelid surgery and then a few months later, a facelift. These cosmetic procedures might be necessary to catch up on the steps you missed years ago.

If you are either of these patients looking to undergo a facelift or any other type of cosmetic surgery but you are skeptical of your age, book a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Robert Vitolo today to learn more about how you can go from 75 to 45 real quick.
