Have you ever asked yourself what makes a great smile? Is it the whiteness of your teeth? The straightness of your teeth? Is it the amount of gums that show when you are told “1-2-3-cheese?” Though no one can have a perfect smile, the “ideal” smile is what we all aim for, especially if you are anything like us – who love having great teeth and an even better smile. To get down to the bottom of what makes a great smile, we went right to the expert. Here’s what Dr. Joshua Ghiam shared:

The smile is one of the most defining features of one’s face, and when done properly, it can complement facial features and truly brighten up the entire face. The smile has the ability to exude one’s happiness and confidence and also have a substantial impact on those around them as well, being that the smile is so infectious. I think what makes a beautiful smile is one that brings harmony and symmetry to a person’s face, with a natural white color, surface texture, translucency, detailed anatomy of each tooth, and beautiful broad arch form to display as many teeth as possible.
What I admire most about a person’s smile is one that displays almost all of their teeth, each with their own well-defined anatomy, evenly positioned, that’s bright and white!
