Miami Swim Week rounds up the hautest of swimwear brands, there is no doubt about it. Amid all the lively events and elegant cocktails are the glamorous runway shows. This year MTV’s Siesta Key favorite, Juliette Porter’s body-positive designer swimwear and apparel brand JMP The Label, debuted at Miami Swim Week. The ‘Into The Jungle’ themed show held at the Paraiso Tent at Collins Park opened up with Miss USA, Elle Smith, and cast mate and model Kelsey Owens walking. The show, styled by Rebecca Weinberg of Sex and The City fame, mixed Miami Vice with ‘Sex in the City’ fashion, making for a captivating yet inspiring show for all notable attendees.

Haute Beauty’s very own Andrea Gutierrez, Vice President of Network Partnerships, sat in support of the exotic collection and empowering mission behind JMP The Label. In awe of the show and what the brand stand’s for, it was a no-brainer that Gutierrez, in the excitement of it all, sat down with Porter to ask her the questions we’ve been wanting answered.

Andrea Gutierrez: What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs?

Juliette Porter: Stay true to yourself and try your best. I remind myself of this often, especially when I feel low. Nothing is a failure as long as you’ve learned and taken something away from each situation that you can apply in the future.

AG: Where do you get your inspiration for your new collection?

JP: The theme of this collection is Into The Jungle. We wanted to show the progression of our brand and when we first started JMP the Label in 2021, our Tortuga print was quickly a standout. Our customers loved the versatility and fun new take on an animal classic. That really inspired us to find a new and exciting way to introduce an animal print that was more unexpected and we developed our reversible tiger fabric. It allows the customer to have multiple suits in one. This fabric was a spark for us for the entire collection, we wanted to ensure we always have strong neutrals and a trendy take on classic fashion ideas. Our silhouettes are evolutions of our best-selling styles, really focusing on styles that work on multiple body types and are flattering and versatile.

AG: What collection meant the most to you and why?

JP: Every collection we do is special for different reasons. But what really stands out as most meaningful are our newest crochet collections, blue mirage and pink mirage. Our crochet styles are JMP the Label brand staples and really put us on the map.  We reimagined them by doing a melange knit in high contrast & bright colors and we added some new sexy bodies. These are absolutely some of my new favorites and the creative process was really fun to come up with a way to reinvent our bestseller!

AG: What makes the brand stand out?

JP: JMP The Label is all about empowering women, inducing happiness and fun, creating connections, and more. I think the key is creating pieces that can be worn by everyone. During the fitting process, we focus on putting our garments on multiple-sized fit models to make sure that each style will fit perfectly on a size small or a 2X. We are mindful about having styles in each collection that would work for a size 2 or a size 14. It’s so important to us that women feel gorgeous in our suits, whether they are a 25-year-old jetsetter or a 45-year-old mom. We put major emphasis on the quality of each collection so that the garments last multiple swim seasons. We really like to add versatility and convertibility into the styles so that it adds value and can be worn many ways. We are real women creating a line for real women, it’s important for us to take into consideration what women need and want to feel their best.

AG: Do you have any plans to carry your line in any major retail stores? If so, which ones?

JP: We are talking about taking the brand global next year and we’re really excited about what that will mean for us; it’s definitely going to the next level. I’m eager for JMP The Label to be more accessible through special curated retail partnerships and collaborations.

AG: Do you have any plans to expand your brand further outside of swimwear and activewear?

JP: Absolutely! We are also launching resort wear and clothing pieces. We definitely have more plans for the future to do more categories. We want to be a one-stop shop for fashion for the entire family. Ultimately, I would like JMP The Label to be the go-to brand for all sizes and ages! For now, I am trying to stay laser-focused on making the best swimwear, activewear, and clothing pieces possible!
