Rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, mommy makeovers and more, the options in the world of cosmetic surgery are endless. Of course, the reasons for undergoing a procedure of that capacity vary from patient to patient, but altogether the benefits are life-changing.

As a result of these procedures’ positive impacts on patients, Haute Beauty experts and beyond continue to practice for the long run. To get in on a different perspective (other than the patients), Haute Beauty goes behind the knife with Haute Beauty experts to discuss which procedure is their favorite to perform and why. Here’s what they had to say:

Dr. Ralph Garramone | Body | Fort Myers

I love performing all cosmetic surgery procedures but my favorite procedure is the mommy makeover. I love that body contouring involves skin removal (tummy tuck) combined with a breast enhancement, such as a breast augmentation or breast lift, and sometimes even a reduction is needed.

I have found that doing a hybrid breast augmentation using a smaller breast implant combined with my patient’s own body fat provides great results to my patients (and it’s gaining popularity)! The reason I enjoy performing this procedure is it’s truly life-changing for my patients. When a patient has overall body confidence, positive things start to naturally evolve in all areas of their lives, and to be able to give that to them, is all I ever wanted and more.

Some of the benefits of a mommy makeover beyond body confidence in a bikini, including having your clothes fit like a dream, increased stamina and more energy, lower cholesterol and of course, a more youthful appearance.

It is hard to single out one favorite procedure, but rhinoplasty is up there. Rhinoplasty is a surgery of millimeters and minor changes can have a profound impact on how the nose and whole face looks. Due to its complexity, few plastic surgeons perform primary and revision rhinoplasty. It is important to note that nose surgery is not just an aesthetic procedure but is also performed for functional purposes. On many occasions, patients that have come in for purely an aesthetic improvement of their nose, realize after surgery that they have lived their whole lives not breathing properly. Results after rhinoplasty can be truly life-changing for patients and I am always honored to be part of that transformation.

It’s hard to choose just one procedure. I’d say it’s a tie between the mommy makeover and facelift. Both procedures are transformative for patients, albeit at different times in a woman’s life, which makes them rewarding for both me and my patients. Today’s mommy makeover has become synonymous with self-care and allows my patients to find some much-needed balance by prioritizing themselves. Designed to restore the pre-baby body, a mommy makeover commonly includes any combination of breast augmentation, breast lift, liposuction, and/or tummy tuck.

To maintain results, I recommend my patients have a mommy makeover after they’re done having children. My facelift patients are generally anywhere from 40 to nearly 80 years of age and my approach with each is as individualized as they are themselves. “Facelifting” today describes any surgical procedure that addresses signs of aging on the face and/or neck by repositioning the skin and restoring youthful contours. Whether I perform a mini lift or something more extensive, my patients ultimately see a rested and refreshed reflection in the mirror that brings them an incredible sense of self-confidence. I take considerable satisfaction in performing facelifts and mommy makeovers, both of which require the artistry and skill I’ve honed over the years as a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Deep Plane Facelift. I believe this one procedure has changed my approach to facial aging like no other one. It has allowed me to treat younger patients and minimize the stigma of facelift scars as there is no tension on the closure and the healing is much better. The recovery is much faster and most of the time I do the cases under sedation without the need for intubation. It also helps with restoring the volume of the midface (cheeks) by lifting the droopy tissues that cause a heavy bottom look on the face, avoiding the need to use fillers or fat which can only make things worse by giving a more rounding appearance to the face, when what we want is to actually lift and thin the lower face. Definitely worth every second I have spent perfecting the art of a deep plane lift over the past 8 years.

Dr. Brian Machida | Face | Los Angeles

My absolute favorite procedure and what I do every week and almost every day is the deep plane facelift.  It is far superior to the traditional SMAS lift and can be oriented with a vertical pull.  Close to 99 % of my facelift patients are extremely happy with the result of this technique. I believe it also has less pain than a traditional facelift and with an experienced surgeon less risk of complication.

Dr. Daisy Ayim | Body | Houston

Body contouring ranks high on my list of favorite procedures. My genuine love for exercise and natural body sculpting motivates me when performing this procedure. I consider the anatomy, body frame, proportions, and clients’ expectations as I perform surgery or non-invasive procedure. I love the interactive aspect of body contouring so much that I empower my clients with a verbal workout contact that positively incorporates them in achieving greater sustainable results.

My favorite procedure to perform is a rhinoplasty. It is a technically challenging surgery, however one that is filled with great rewards. Patients tend to have rhinoplasties due to either a functional issue or an aesthetic concern. A functional problem interferes with the natural laminar airflow in the nose and leads to difficulties with breathing. Those that desire to have a rhinoplasty to improve an aesthetic deformity, usually have been burdened with the distortion all their lives.

The nose is the focal point of the face, and whether it is a functional or aesthetic concern, it can cause a great deal of distress for a patient. To be able to correct any one of these issues, the patients have so much gratitude. In addition, with respect to the technical aspects of the surgery, it involves a lot of critical thinking and strategic planning because not every nose is the same. It is a very individualized operation and therefore you will never perform the same surgery twice. It also involves a complex skillset and is a procedure that is rapidly evolving. I attend conferences on a regular basis to be up to date on the newest techniques. I consider myself a life-long learner, and this is certainly a surgery that keeps me intellectually stimulated!

Rhinoplasty is my favorite procedure to perform and is also the most rewarding procedure that I do. It’s almost weekly that a patient will be moved to tears of joy after seeing their new nose for the first time. It is by far the best part of my job.

My approach of choice for a nose job is an “endonasal” or “scarless rhinoplasty”. I utilize this approach for over 90% of my primary (first-time) nose jobs, and I consider myself an expert in this specific technique.  Not only is it my favorite procedure, but I am also best known for my endonasal or “scarless” rhinoplasty technique.  The endonasal or “closed” rhinoplasty is an art and the surgeon must have specialized training in order to perform this technique and produce consistent, beautiful and natural results. That being said, I tailor every nose surgery procedure for the individual patient’s concerns, needs, and desired outcomes.

An endonasal or scarless rhinoplasty allows for a faster recovery time (one week), with very minimal swelling and bruising — and zero evidence of surgery, because all of the incisions are hidden within the nostrils. There is no external scarring. This is a very technically difficult and demanding approach that I have perfected and improved for over a decade. During the consultation process, I will determine which approach and techniques are most appropriate for each individual case, and I completely involve the patients in the decision-making process.

Dr. Robert Vitolo | Breast | New York

The Scar Less Facelift is an operation that I’ve been doing for over 25 years now, and it’s one of my favorite operations. Right on the operating table, we see a change in the patient’s face, making them look ten years younger. This procedure is the first step in maintaining a youthful-looking face. and the results can last ten years or more, thus preventing the need for more invasive procedures.
