Maluma Just Released His Fragrance Line Fit For Royalty

Celebrity, News March 15, 2022 By Isabella Harrison

Colombian singer/songwriter, Maluma, tapped into the beauty industry this week with his new King and Queen collection of luxury fragrances. The collection is made up of four jewel-inspired fragrances for his fans to enjoy. While Maluma has ventured into the fashion industry with capsule collections and campaigns for luxury designers, his breakout into the beauty industry was less expected.

However, this project seems to be near and dear to him, as he drew from a variety of memories and inspirations to develop his fragrances. Maluma tells Vogue, “One of my earliest memories is seeing my dad when I was young shave and place his aftershave all over him before leaving to work. I remember him placing it on his hands and leaving the scent behind in our home and it was the same with my grandfather.” We all know how strong the association between scent and memory can be, so Maluma clearly wanted to create memorable scents that had a similar effect on his fans.

Maluma had a clear vision of what he wanted the line to become and was actively involved in every step of the tedious process to ensure that vision was reflected.  The attention to detail is clear in the design of each of the carefully curated perfume bottles as well as the names and thought behind each fragrance choice. Royalty By Maluma offers a range of fragrances, catering to plenty of different preferences. The line includes two fragrances “for kings” Onyx, a warm and dark fragrance with a woodsy vanilla base, and Garnet, a bolder scent with patchouli and lavender. “For queens”, the line features Jade, a floral scent representing tranquility and wisdom, and Amethyst, a bright scent with amber, vanilla, tangerine, and more.

In addition to creating memorable fragrances for fans to enjoy, the singer wanted to pay homage to his Colombian heritage. Maluma told Vogue, “I worked with Latin perfumers from Colombia so that we could incorporate our signature flower into one of the perfumes.” They were able to work the scent country’s famous orchid into the Amethyst fragrance from the line.

If you’re looking to try the fragrances now, you can shop all four perfumes from the collection on the Royalty By Maluma website.
