The holistic space is jammed packed with different types of therapies, medicines, and treatments. As it has become more widespread, the use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) has grown of importance to today’s health care users and experts. Haute MD Expert Dr. Vineet Sandhu dives into what CAM entails and his recommended methods. Here is what he had to say:

There are five categories of complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) that are used in the holistic space, which include alternative medical systems, mind-body interventions, biologically-based treatments (BBT), manipulative and body-based methods, and energy therapies. The one we will focus on due to its popularity and importance to CAM is biologically-based treatments.
According to the National Center for CAM, biological-based therapies (BBT) “includes specialized diets, herbal products, and other natural products such as minerals, hormones, and biologicals.” Just recently, Vitamin D and Omega 3 FA were published to decrease autoimmune diseases in addition to their other impactful properties on bone health and lipids.
I also recommend daily turmeric for arthritis. Zinc and magnesium are important as well. If you are experiencing awful migraines, magnesium can help alleviate those symptoms. These are just a few to name proving the extensiveness of the holistic space.
