Not many Hollywood stars have accomplished the scope of success that Jamie Foxx has reached. Starring in some of the biggest blockbuster films of the past decade, the 53-year-old actor surely stays in shape to meet the roles he takes on. However, Foxx isn’t your typical actor.

In fact, he doesn’t follow any fad diets or fasts. “I’m not laying any blame, but some of these Hollywood diets where you eat a basket of air and drink a cup of wind? Don’t do that shit,” Foxx told Men’s Health. “You need food.” He consumes egg whites, turkey sausage, a slice of toast and orange juice for breakfast, making it his biggest meal of the day. For lunch, he packs in the protein: Brussels sprouts, bacon, salmon and rice. Later, he enjoys a dinner usually consisting of steak and vegetables.

Turns out, Foxx likes to snack a lot. He loves blackberries and other fruits, but he sometimes craves a less-healthy snack in the form of salt and vinegar chips. Nevertheless, he knows snacking comes with a cost: “If I snack a lot, that means I’ve got to go run a lot or workout a lot.” That tip probably comes in handy when he succumbs to a cheat day because he loves the “Sophia Pizza” — a white cheese pizza topped with sausage — and crab legs.

When it comes to exercising, Foxx already knows what to do. At his age, he said working with a trainer no longer feels necessary due to his years of experience in fitness. Instead, the actor follows his own benchmarks: He works out right away in the morning and shoots for 20 pull-ups each day. “And if you can get 25 dips, 50 push ups, 100 sit-ups, if you can get 20 to 30 back extensions, you’re done,” he said.

Keeping it real, Foxx also promoted the importance of moderation, exercise and healthy habits. “When you look better, you feel better,” he said. “So when you eat right you feel right, and that’s what I try to do.”
