Dr. Leita Harris has been delivering health care to women in the Inland Empire in California since 1990. Harris started Nurturing You Women’s Health & Wellness in June of 2015 after 25 years of practicing in multi-specialty groups, with the first 15 years was a full scope OB/GYN practice. Throughout her career, Dr. Harris has found the need to re-examine ‘medicine’ and the methods with which she was practicing. In 2008, Dr. Harris transitioned into a role that allowed her to see only GYN clinic patients and her use of bio-identical hormones in practice began to blossom as she continued at this practice until 2015, at which time she founded Nurturing You. Throughout her research and studies, Dr. Harris has also learned how to manage male hormone patients so that she can leave her female patients feeling great, and their partners as well. Haute Beauty expert Dr. Leita Harris discusses the process of skin resurfacing therapy to achieve radiant results.
Photo Credit: ShutterstockHealthy and radiant skin never goes out of style and can often go hand in hand with glowing confidence. Many products tend to advertise the magic solution for skin-related troubles, but for sufferers of acne, sun damage, and/or minor scarring, many of these serums and solutions yield little improvement. Fortunately, skin resurfacing treatments, which work with small (nano-sized) pins to safely deliver energy through the skin’s surface to stimulate fibroblast and rebuild collagen, in conjunction with an excellent skincare regimen, effectively regenerate and refresh damaged skin in a minimally invasive way.
The unique and advanced technology used in skin resurfacing treatments offer visible results while still reducing downtime and speeding up the healing process.
Skin resurfacing therapy treatments are available at Nurturing You Women’s Health & Wellness and can be customized to minimize and treat specific and personal concerns. Patients who suffer from unwanted scars, enlarged pores, stretch marks, wrinkles, and abnormalities in dermal texture can improve their complexion through skin resurfacing therapy, and by using skincare products recommended by, and available at Nurturing You. Nurturing You works with patients to enhance the effects of skin resurfacing therapy, and achieve desired results through appropriate and personalized skincare routines. At Nurturing You, the ultimate goal is reaching the patient’s dream skin which is a process that involves both topical products and resurfacing therapy.
As aforementioned, the technologies that are employed in skin resurfacing therapy are advanced and unique. Established technologies such as Venus Versa skin resurfacing are safe for all skin types and tones, and work to resurface and refresh sun-damaged, wrinkled, and/or scarred skin. Skin resurfacing therapy boasts safety and availability to various potential patients, but regardless of your concerns, scheduling a consultation will determine the best course of action for you. Consultations will also verify that you are an appropriate candidate for the treatment.
Photo Credit: ShutterstockTreatment sessions last 15-30 minutes depending on the area that is being treated, and may cause slight discomfort and a feeling of sunburn-like heat, but are not painful. There will be a bit of facial redness immediately post-treatment session. Most patients receive three treatments per area of concern, with each treatment being performed 4 weeks apart, though the frequency of treatments may vary based on individual patient skin necessities and goals. The after-care for skin resurfacing therapy treatment is relatively straightforward and mild: for 24 hours, you should not apply nor rub anything on your skin, including water and sweat. No exercise is permitted as it can lead to perspiration. After 24 hours makeup and your regular skincare routine are permissible. Rigorous exercise, massages, and hot baths should continue to be avoided for the first two days after a session. Sunscreen should be applied liberally (at least SPF 30) and tanning should be avoided.
Skin resurfacing will yield benefits and evident results that will continue to improve over time after the final treatment. The collagen boost that results from the treatment will increase radiance and skin elasticity however, one touch-up session may be necessary around every six months depending on the patient’s response to the treatment.
