But today, even though we laugh so many times in a day; many people are conscious about their smiles! More and more people believe that they do not have a great-looking smile. And as a dentist, I cannot deny that a majority of people are still not good at taking care of their teeth.

I meet people every day who are so insecure about the appearance of their teeth that they hide them when smiling. For some people, this is such a huge issue that not being able to smile affects their emotional well-being too. When you consider these factors, you will realize that cosmetic dentistry is truly the future of smiles – it is not only about looking pretty but also about feeling confident about yourself.

If you ask people what is the first thing they notice about someone, their eyes or their smile are the most common answers. Yet, despite knowing how important a smile is, we are nowhere near taking proper care of our teeth and smile. One in five patients agrees that they visit the dental office only when their teeth hurt or they feel any discomfort. But now people are paying greater attention to every aspect of their health and beauty, cosmetic dentistry is becoming a greater part of their daily lives.

The Perfect Smile for the Instagram World

Gen z spends a lot of time in the virtual world. They aspire to have a perfect smile for their Instagram and Snapchat photos. Many people are considering cosmetic dentistry today to enhance their smiles. But what I have seen from my patients is that most of them come here to achieve a more natural look. Whether it is the Instagram filters they use or the cosmetic treatments they choose, they just want to cover up any flaws and achieve a natural look. This is why my focus is more on minimally invasive procedures that ensure natural results.

Gone are the days of metallic braces. These days people do not want to have visible brackets or wires every time they smile. According to the changing needs of the patients, the technology and treatments in dentistry are also evolving alongside. I personally believe that this is one of the best times for dentistry with all the wonderful technology that can achieve something absolutely beautiful! Today I can show patients what they can expect even before they begin their treatment.

But cosmetic dentistry cannot create miracles. The size, shape, color, and alignment of your teeth – I can fix it all. But if your teeth are not in good health, you will not see the results you want to achieve. The first and foremost thing you need to do is take care of your dental health. Brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings are non-negotiable!

Another thing that people need to remember is that not every fad is worth embracing. At-home dental care is not likely to get you results that your dentist can help you achieve. In fact, you even risk harming your teeth. At best, most of these fads are simply a waste of money!

Today you can walk into a dental office and walk out with a flawless smile in a matter of hours. Missing teeth, gaps, or broken teeth; today we can fix almost anything. Now that I believe is a gift of medicine that is worth smiling about! And the more your smile, the more youthful you look.
