The popular BBL procedure, or Brazilian Butt Lift, is a highly sought after procedure that uses fat from other parts of the body to give patients a more voluptuous silhouette and plumper buttocks. What people don’t speak about much is the recovery process. Keeping your weight of the surgical site for 2 weeks is just once piece of the recovery process, there are many other important things that the patient should do in order to ensure the best results on their new assets!

Haute Beauty Expert Dr. Ralph Garramone talks about the many facets of recovery from BBL surgery that prove aftercare is just as important as the surgery itself.

Sedation

While performing a BBL is often done under local anesthesia, using general anesthesia ensures the least amount of movement from the patient and in turn less trauma. Trauma control during surgery will make recovery and painless as possible.

Aside from recovery, strides in current BBL procedures have been made and are leaning away from classic liposuction and even Smart Lipo. We use a special cannula that breaks up the fat after its been injected to create a smoother appearance. After that, tools like BodyTite are used to also tighten the skin from the inside out.

Healing Supplies

There are many types of cushions available for purchase online to aid in the recovery process after Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery. Typically zero weight can be put on the buttocks for 2 weeks, but we recommend 3 weeks. There are different types of cushions for every position, including sitting and sleeping.

Compression Garment

Compression garments are worn after the procedure to make sure the newly placed fat cells stay in the correct shape. Most surgeons recommend the garment to be worn for 6-8 weeks however we tell our patients 6-8 months so they can achieve the most smoothest and natural-looking results.

Diet

During your BBL tumescent is used, which is extra fluid that causes swelling. Avoiding sugary and salty foods and drinks that cause additional swelling is essential. We also recommend patients hydrating often to flush the body.
