HB: What is one of the options you offer to repair sun damage and offer a more perfect overall complexion?

DOT Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing: this procedure creates microscopic channels through the top layer of your skin down into the second layer of skin, the dermis, to stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, acne scarring and improve skin laxity. This fractionated technology doesn’t overheat the skin, which can damage the skin and cause permanent scarring.

HB: What concerns does the DOT Fractional CO2 laser work to address?

The DOT Fractional CO2 laser is FDA approved to treat:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scarring
  • Sunspots
  • Large pores
  • Areas of uneven pigmentation
  • Areas of uneven skin texture

HB: Walk us through the treatment.

This is an in-office procedure performed with a combination of topical numbing medicine, oral pain medication and often nerve blocks. The procedure itself takes less than an hour.

HB: Who is a good candidate?

Although there are a few reasons one may not be a candidate for Fractional CO2 treatment, most people can benefit from the skin rejuvenation provided by the DEKA DOT laser. If you have an active skin infection, open wounds, recent sunburn or over sun exposure then it would be prudent to hold off on your treatment. Darker skin complexions also have to proceed with caution.

A consultation will be performed prior to treatment to ensure someone is a good candidate.

HB: What is recovery and aftercare like?

Recovery time with this laser will depend on the strength of the treatment received and the area treated, but generally mild for seven to ten days. Your skin will be slightly red across the treatment area and feel as if sunburned for the first 24 to 48 hours. Slight swelling can occur, so the use of cool packs is recommended for the first few days after treatment, in addition to keeping your skin moist while healing with a gentle non-irritating moisturizer or a healing skin balm we provide you in the office. We recommend EltaMD Laser Balm and EltaMD Moisturizer after treatment.

HB: What is the cost?

The cost for the treatment ranges from $1,500 – $4,000 on average depending on how many areas are treated. A free consultation is given before treatment to go over the procedure, cost and to ensure the patient is a good candidate.
